I Can't Complain

I've got a roof above my head
And I sleep safely in my bed
I've done alright it must be said
I can't complain
My shelves are full of books to read
There's music any time I need
A garden where the wild birds feed
I can't complain
I've lived my life in modest ways
Worked nine to five for modest pay
But still I don't regret a day
I can't complain
My folks were always good to me
They brought me up so selflessly
I hold them in my memory
I can't complain
I've smiled more than I have frowned
And never lost more than I found
And though I won't be long around
I can't complain
I've had more pleasure than I've had pain
I've had more sunshine than I've had rain
It's a life I'd live again
I can't complain
I've seen some places in my day
And made some friends along the way
And good friends too I have to say
I can't complain
And to make it all complete
I shared the years with one so sweet
The love I thought I'd never meet
I can't complain
And when my final breath has flown
I'll lie untroubled ash or bone
Beneath these words carved on my stone
I can't complain
